The stories explore ordinary moments we don’t always realise we’ll miss. Sometimes funny, sometimes bittersweet, with familiar details you might recognise from your own life. Letters from Rookscroft

Its stories begin when Jayne, an artist and narrator, discovers that the animals living around her old house have lives, friendships and adventures entirely of their own. It all begins when Vernon, a self-important pheasant and hat-maker, appears at the study window demanding a portrait, and soon we meet Quentin, a poetry-writing golden pheasant who lives beneath a rose bush and many other wonderful creatures whose lives run parallel to our own. The stories are cosy, whimsical and often funny, but they're also about friendship, loneliness, belonging and found family. Letters from Rookscroft lets you follow their lives through the seasons. The Lantern Letters
